It has been on our minds for a while, and now it’s done: We remixed a complete Interdisco album. Six old and new Interdisco artists went to town on Volta Vital’s Mittelmass EP. Mister Vital carefully selected tunes for each respective remixer, and the outcome is a veritable potpourri of electronic music:

Hachi turns “Hafebecki” into a darkly minimalist dub techno monster, Technick catapults “Allright” straight into club peak time, And Me twists and turns “Polyester” with Arpeggiator and the classic means of dub into a tasty slice of electronic weirdness, Christian Walt gently torpedoes “Ä-ä, ä-ä” with rays of balearic sunshine, Ean Arc leans back and transforms “Traummaschine” into an instant deep house classic, and Dario Rohrbach dresses up “Wettstbrk” in sequins and sends it on a seriously groovy disco dancefloor.

There was one thing that none of the remixers could change. Even in those new versions, the six tracks remain what they originally were: pure hits! Balm your bodies and souls with Volta Vital and you will be winter-resistant like the shingles on yo mama’s house!

Was schon länger in unseren Köpfen rumspukt, haben wir jetzt endlich geschafft: ein komplettes Interdisco-Album zu remixen. Sechs alte und neue Interdisco-Artists haben sich über Volta Vitals Mittelmass EP hergemacht. Herr Vital hat dabei jedem Remixer mit Bedacht einen Song zugeteilt und rausgekommen ist ein Potpourri der elektronischen Musik:

Hachi macht “Hafebecki” zum düster-minimalistischen Dub-Techno-Monster, Technick katapultiert “Allright” in die Club-Peaktime, And Me verdreht “Polyester” mit Arpeggiator und den klassischen Mitteln des Dub zu einem Stück elektronischer Weirdness, Christian Walt bestrahlt “Ä-ä, ä-ä” mit balearischem Sonnenschein, Ean Arc lehnt sich zurück und verwandelt “Traummaschine” in einen Instant-Deephouse-Klassiker und Dario Rohrbach steckt “Wettstbrk” ins Paillettenkleid und schickt es auf den hart groovenden Disco-Tanzfloor.

Nur etwas hat keiner der Remixes ändern können. Alle sechs Tracks sind auch in den neuen Versionen, was sie im Original schon waren: Hits! Reibt den Balsam von Volta Vital auf eure Körper und Seelen und trotzt dem Winter!

We’re very excited to introduce you to the Preslav Literary School. Preslav’s ambient drones are an offer of peace and tranquility. Veer is disarmingly heartfelt and has an emotional intensity which leaves you with goose bumps and a deep feeling of sobriety. We’re not talking about waves breaking on the shore, whales mating in the deep ocean, or the like. – No, droning out of Preslav’s tape archive are lost & found violins, ghostly voices, stretched out guitar riffs and industrial soundscapes.

We recommend listening to Veer on an appropriate sound system or headphones to experience the full effect of this record.

Veer uses live recordings of a Preslav Literary School concert at Open Broadcast’s Radio Village, Basel, Switzerland on Friday June 18th 2010. It was mixed and named in Berlin in March 2011. As Preslav Literary School, Adam Thomas makes live tape collages using sounds drawn from an ever-growing archive of self-generated or discovered outsider noise, found sound and spoken word cassettes. A process of transference, overdubbing and live manipulation reworks these source materials into compelling, ambient broadcasts.

Preslav Literary School has released records on NO-FI, Razzle Dazzle and Elephant & Castles, sharing stages and bills with Aki Onda, Machinefabriek, Gudrun Gut & AGF, Anton Bruhin, Leif Elggren and Sudden Infant. Preslav Literary School has toured the UK, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and Poland and played at Flux/s 2010, Shift Festival 2010, STRP 2010 & transmediale.11.

Er, well, yes, he sings all this in Swiss German, a German dialect only spoken in Switzerland. But don’t let this put you off, enjoy the music and impress your friends with an unexpectedly catchy tune sung in a truly exotic language on your next mixtape.

Volta Vital Songs handeln von den Glücksversprechen und ihrem Scheitern, Stadtneurotikern mit latenten Gewaltfantasien, von sozialen Mini-Katastrophen mit flüchtigen Nachtlebenbekanntschaften, und immer wieder vom Hadern mit Nähe und Distanz. Zu Volta Vital gehören auch Witz, Biss, Beats und Melodien. Und, ja, gesungen wird in Schweizerdeutsch. Wenn Ihr die Texte nicht versteht, dann geniesst einfach ihren exotischen Klang und Volta Vitals Sinn für tolle Melodien — und Eure Freunde werden von Eurer Weltläufigkeit beeindruckt sein.

Don’t miss a live show of one of our upcoming Interdisco artists: Preslav Literary School (Berlin). He will play a headphone concert at this years Shift Festival in Basel on Saturday at midnight.

“Preslav Literary School presents ʻMagnetic Ghostsʼ, a collage of lost, lent and found cassettes, which is dedicated to exploring the fascination of the frequencies and range of the compact cassette. The live transmission, transfer and manipulation of various source materials add up to a riveting composition.”

Also check his website for upcoming live shows in Berlin, the Netherlands, Paris and London where he will be promoting his freshly released album “Echolalia” which was released by No-Fi.

A release by Preslav Literary School is due to be released on Interdisco at the beginning of next year.

Hi there, we’re back

Here we are, back after a hiatus that lasted much much longer than planned. Should we start to explain why? Let’s just say we had to take some detours. More important: we’re back with an all new website and three new releases!

The new logo was designed by Papiro, who is not only one of our favorite graphic designers, but also one of our favorite musicians (check his “Ghost Album” here on Interdisco). The website was built by Interdisco’s own Oliver Hagmann aka Hachi. We hope you’re as happy with it as we are.

Did You Ever Try To See? (Pt. 1)

Christian Walt’s fourth EP on Interdisco has turned out a thoroughly mature piece of work. Walt had locked himself up in the studio for days and nights on end. It was worth it: Everything is in its right place, the beat, the bass, the longing chords, the finely engraved percussion, the interspersed melancholy melodic miniatures.

Of course this all has to do with house, with Walt’s every-growing longtime engagement with jazz – and with love, but you will notice that yourself. Think of unkitschy sunsets! Dance with your sweetheart or yearn for it!

The second part of “Did You Ever Try to See?” will be released shortly.

Christian Walts vierte EP auf Interdisco ist ein reifes Werk geworden. Tage- und nächtelang schloss sich Walt im Studio ein. Es hat sich gelohnt: Alles ist da, und alles am exakt richtigen Ort, der Beat, der Bass, die Sehnsuchtsakkorde, die feinziselierte Perkussion, die gelegentlichen melancholischen Minimelodien.

Natürlich hat das alles auch mit House zu tun, mit Walts langjähriger, zunehmender Beschäftigung mit Jazz – und mit der Liebe, aber das merkt Ihr ja selbst. Denkt an unkitschige Sonnenuntergänge! Tanzt mit Euren Liebsten oder sehnt Euch danach!

No One Spooks In My Apartment

Enigmatic producer Puzzling Evidence has long abandoned his studio in favor of building digital puzzles for the more open minded among the video game players out there. At last, Interdisco unearthed his “lost tapes”, recorded around the turn of the century.
Full of eerie atmospheres and pulsating beats, these tracks are based on the revenants of soundtracks sampled from dusty VHS tapes.

For nearly 30 years, Swiss artist Christian Pfluger has been using the moniker “Die Welttraumforscher” – a German play on words that means both “the world dream researchers” and “the space explorers”.
The Welttraumforscher’s explorations of inner and outer space result in an extensive output of music, visual art and literature, building a unique cosmology. Following his contribution to Interdisco’s 2004 compilation “Winterdisco”, we are proud to release the EP “Metacode” as the latest entry into the Welttraumforscher’s cosmic library. The music of “Die Welttraumforscher” has been remixed, among others, by Mouse on Mars and Felix Kubin.
