We are proud to introduce the newest addition to Interdisco’s roster of artists, Volta Vital from Basel, Switzerland, whose lyrics and catchy pop songs won us over in an instant.

Volta Vital songs are about the promises of happiness and their respective failure, they portray neurotic urbanites with latent violent fantasies and detail minor social disasters with nightlife acquaintances, and they frequently orbit around the conflicts between closeness and distance.

Below a thin veneer of grumpiness there are wonderful declarations of love: … “Even if mankind is scum, the scum of the earth indeed, I still wish you were my safe harbour”

Er, well, yes, he sings all this in Swiss German, a German dialect only spoken in Switzerland. But don’t let this put you off, enjoy the music and impress your friends with an unexpectedly catchy tune sung in a truly exotic language on your next mixtape.

Wir sind stolz auf den neusten Neuzugang auf Interdisco, Volta Vital aus Basel, der uns mit hintergründigen Texten und einnehmenden Popsongs sofort begeistert hat.

Volta Vital Songs handeln von den Glücksversprechen und ihrem Scheitern, Stadtneurotikern mit latenten Gewaltfantasien, von sozialen Mini-Katastrophen mit flüchtigen Nachtlebenbekanntschaften, und immer wieder vom Hadern mit Nähe und Distanz. Dazwischen verstecken sich wunderschöne Liebeserklärungen: “Au wenn die Mönschheit dräck isch, ond zwar de letschti, wönschti trotzdem du wärsch mis Hafebecki” (“Auch wenn die Menschheit Dreck ist, und zwar der letzte, wünschte ich trotzdem, Du wärst mein Hafenbecken.”)

Zu Volta Vital gehören auch Witz, Biss, Beats und Melodien. Und, ja, gesungen wird in Schweizerdeutsch. Wenn Ihr die Texte nicht versteht, dann geniesst einfach ihren exotischen Klang und Volta Vitals Sinn für tolle Melodien — und Eure Freunde werden von Eurer Weltläufigkeit beeindruckt sein.
